MCS announces availability of new SkillCheck ‘Identity’ behavioural test modules
Following the recent successful launch of SkillCheck skills assessments and Identity behavioural testing from First Advantage, MCS is pleased to announce the availability of three new Identity behavioural tests.

Lead Sales Executive David Gorton says “Since acquiring distribution rights for SkillCheck earlier on this year, we have seen a rapid growth in our client base. Many of our new clients are looking to test applicants’ ‘hard skills’ – their knowledge of MS Word and Excel programmes, for example. But increasingly, we are seeing more of a market for our Identity tests within the recruitment sector. With this in mind, the US-based SkillCheck Assessment Solutions team has devised three new tests designed to predict whether a job candidate will be successful in the areas of Productivity, Management and Supervision.

David explains “Identity tests are formed by utilising our building block structure to compile the perfect test for you. Each test block is pre-validated, and covers a specific area of personality, such as ‘Trustworthiness’ or ‘Helping Disposition’. When compiled together, we can create a test for any individual recruiter or company using our ‘off the shelf’ building blocks, our three new tests, Productivity, Management and Supervision being a few examples of this. All deliverable via online testing, or DVD installation.”

“We can also create custom tests, validated to your companies’ workforce behaviours if required.”

Existing ‘off the shelf’ Identity tests include:

Workplace Personality
Workplace Skills
Sales
Customer Service
Productivity*
Risk Factors
Management*
Supervision*

Cognitive Ability

*NEW

Each Identity test is composed of a number of individually validated traits that may be used as the building blocks in developing custom behavioural tests. Some of those traits include:

Assertiveness
Ambition
Candidness
Problem Solving
Math and Logical Reasoning
Stress Management
And many others.

General Manager Chris Wallwork says “The SkillCheck assessment line provides more than 850 unique tests, ranging from Audio Customer Service, to Data Entry, through to MS Office scenario-based assessments. On top of this we also offer our time-adaptive TalentScout package too, which is designed to cut your testing time dramatically. This wide-ranging functionality, coupled with the flexibility and robustness of our Identity tests, makes SkillCheck Assessment Solutions not only a crucial tool for Recruiters and HR Managers, but a cost-effective one too.”

To take a closer look at our Identity tests or SkillCheck Assessment Solutions in general, please contact David on 08703 213 444 or david.gorton@crisp-mcs.com.

MCS (GB) Ltd joins BTPA

MCS (GB), a subsidiary of the Exeter-based Crisp Group has today announced that it has joined the Business Test Publishers Association (BTPA).

Chris Wallwork of MCS says “I’m pleased to announce that MCS is now affiliated to the BTPA. MCS has made great strides over the past 12 months, and is now in a position where being a member of an organisation such as the BTPA will only help to further enhance the reputation of MCS whilst, we hope, enabling us to learn, and impart knowledge with existing BTPA members.

The BTPA was formed in a small group of publishers met informally to discuss how they could contribute to the continuous improvement of published tests and the way they were used. Faced with the:
  • growth in internet testing
  • increased use of tests for sifting, selection and development
  • growing public interest in testing, fuelled by TV programmes and newspaper and magazine articles
  • increase in international testing, driven by multinational corporates and consultancies
  • major initiatives on test training, adaptation and reviewing by bodies such as the British Psychological Society and International Test Commission

An organisation was created that would represent test publishers and create easier co-operation with scientific and professional bodies such as the British Psychological Society and the CIPD.

What the BTPA does

The BTPA works with assessment users, and professional and scientific bodies to consistently improve the quality of published assessments, the professionalism of their use and the understanding of their benefits and limitations. We:

  • advise and complement scientific, legal and professional bodies on major initiatives relating to the selection, development, training and management of people in organisations.
  • encourage members to improve the quality of their products and services and to adhere to our scientific, professional and ethical standards.
  • offer unbiased information on the practical, day-to-day issues experienced by test users
  • offer advice to test takers to ensure tests are fair and accurate in the decisions taken about them, and that they receive feedback on test results to help in their self-development
  • develop and communicate a range of good practice guidelines in new areas of organisational assessment and development.
  • raise public and media understanding of this area.
  • help to create a responsible, vigorous and successful industry serving the needs of HR and training professionals.
  • In particular, to act as a discussion forum and information source representing the variety of approaches to testing which we feel is one of the strengths of our industry

While the Association is primarily focused on the UK, it has numerous links with organisations throughout the world including the US Association of Test Publishers and the International Test Commission and draws on best practice internationally.
